Movember!

In third semester we had a ‘photo editing’ class. One of the assignments entailed a randomly chosen peer of ours picking something to assign us. The project was in November and I was assigned to shoot participants of ‘Movember’ in an interesting way (men growing mustaches in November to fundraise and raise awareness for prostate cancer). This was also a quick, think-on-your-toes kind of assignment, because we could only concentrate so much time on it. Here are a couple shots, fully captioned.

BELLEVILLE, Ont. (11/11/10)- Pat Suley, 26 is a Loyalist Student in the Sports Journalism program and is raising awareness about prostate cancer through his participation in ‘Movember’ (growing mustaches in November) this month. His dad died of cancer and his stepdad, as well as a close friend’s dad, was a victim of prostate cancer. Suley, who had never died his hair in his life also coloured his hair blue for ‘Movember’. This way, when people ask about his hair and facial hair he says he is raising money for cancer research. His donations are going to the ‘Movember’ fund. Photo by Leah Myers.

BELLEVILLE, Ont. (11/11/10)- Paul Raymond, 22, is a Loyalist student in the TV and New Media program and is raising awareness about prostate cancer through his participation in ‘Movember’ (growing mustaches in November) this month. Raymond has had a long history with cancer and not only have his Nana and Granpa been affected but he has also had lymph node cancer twice. Raymond also just wanted to see if he could grow a mustache and felt that ‘Movember’ was the acceptable time to experiment. Photo by Leah Myers.
